35th Annual Flute Festival

 

Denton, Texas, May 17-19, 2012


 

The Texas Flute Society will hold its 35th Annual Texas Flute Festival Thursday through Saturday, May 17 - 19, 2012, on the campuses of Texas Woman's University (TWU) and the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, TX.  The Festival is a performance opportunity for flutists of all ages and abilities.  Recitals, seminars, masterclasses and flute choirs are scheduled for Friday evening, May 18, and Saturday, May 19.  Exhibits will be open all day Saturday.

Each Festival participant will play for a recognized flute specialist who will provide constructive commentary. Participants may record their performances and the specialists' comments with their own recording devices. The Flute Festival is not a contest and no ratings are given.  However, Outstanding and Honor performers are recognized.

The 27th Annual Myrna W. Brown Artist Competition will be held in Denton on the campus of TWU with semi-finals on Thursday, May 17, and finals on Friday, May 18. The final round of the 1st Annual Donna Marie Haire Young Artist Competition will be held on Saturday, May 19, at UNT.  More information and contact information can be found by viewing the competition brochures on our web site www.texasflutesociety.org. The competitions are open to the public, but normal festival fees are required to attend the final round.  Entries must be postmarked by February 15, 2012.
