TEXAS FLUTE SOCIETY
BY-LAWS
Purpose: The Texas
Flute Society is organized for the purposes and objectives as follows: ( A ) to
further the activities and education on flutists in North Central Texas, ( B )
to sponsor concerts, workshops, clinics, master classes and festivals at which
members and guests artists can perform and disseminate information, and ( C )
to direct our efforts toward cultural and educational values in and for the
general community, striving for activities with a public interest wider than
that of members and contributors.
Membership: Memberships shall consist of the following
classes:
A. Members and sustaining members are those
adults who have an interest in the flute
and flute playing and activities related to
music involving the flute.
B. Student memberships will be granted to
students from grade school through
undergraduate college level.
C. Trade/Commercial members are manufacturers,
publishers, and suppliers who
support the activities of the Texas Flute
Society.
Annual membership fees shall be regulated by the
Executive Board and are payable
within the calendar year which begins January
1. All memberships shall expire
December 31 of the calendar year in which they
have been paid.
Meetings: Meetings shall be held three or more times a
year. A special events committee,
appointed by the Executive Board, shall be
responsible for planning and implementing
the meetings. Members will be notified of
events by mail.
Officers: The organization shall select a panel of
officers to serve one-year terms beginning and
concluding June 30 of the succeeding year as
follows:

Myrna Brown Competition
Coordinator Secretary
Master Class Competition Coordinator

The Officers and Trustees shall constitute the
Executive Board.
Compensation: No member of the Society may receive a
salary for his services to the
organization as an officer. The board may
authorize honorariums and reimbursement
to a member for out-of-pocket expenses incurred
on behalf of the Society. Such services
must be consistent with the Society’s purposes.
The Executive Board may authorize
payment to individuals for professional services
rendered to the Society.
Amendments: The by-laws may be altered, changed, or
amended by a majority vote of the
members, who may vote in abstention, by proxy,
or in person. The constitution and by-
laws will became effective for a period of one
(1) year as soon as approved by a vote of
the majority of those members present. At the
end of one year, the Society, by a vote of
a majority of members present, may repeal or
replace them in effect permanently.
