The Texas Flute Society announces the following masterclass opportunities at the 32nd Annual Texas Flute Festival:
Piccolo Masterclass with Nan Raphael
Jazz Masterclass with Horace Alexander Young
High School Solo Masterclass with Marianne Gedigian
Junior High School Solo Masterclass with Pethrus Gardborn
The masterclasses will be held on Friday and/or Saturday, May 22-23, 2009.
All masterclasses will be held at the University of North Texas in Denton,Texas.
Repertoire required:
Piccolo Masterclass - any piccolo solo of your choice
Jazz Masterclass - Choose one of the following from Abersold Play_A_Longs:
Impressions, Maiden Voyage, I'll Remember April
Junior High/Senior High School Masterclass - any flute solo of your choice
Procedures and Guidelines
***Recording Deadline***
Postmarked by March 1, 2009
Applicants will submit a recording on CD.
There must be NO personal identification on the recording or box. Recordings will be coded and sent to a judging committee.
Label the recording with included repertoire.
If applying for more than one class, please send separate recordings.
Please do not send recordings by certified mail.
No recordings will be returned.
Works written for flute and accompaniment must be recorded using both instruments.
Performers who wish to play for a specialist on Friday or Saturday at the Festival must apply separately.
All performers must be a member of the Texas Flute Society. Please enclose a statement that the applicant has paid his/her dues or include actual dues payment
Pre-college & Undergraduate: $10
Adult and graduate students: $25
Sustaining Member: $35
Life Members: $500
Application fee of $25 may be combined with dues in one check and enclosed with recording.
Selected performers will be notified by late April.
