The Texas Flute Society is proud to announce the winners of the 2019 Donna Marie Haire Young Artist Competition.
Allison Liu: 1st Place
Allison Liu is a senior at Timber Creek High School. Since starting flute in fifth grade, she has performed with the TMEA All-State Philharmonic Orchestra and in Bass Hall alongside the Fort Worth Symphony. Recently, Allison was honored to be named the winner of Bass Hall’s Roz Rosenthal Outstanding Student in Music Award and was a finalist in the Haynes Texas Flute All-Star Competition. She also serves as the principal flute of the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra. Allison currently studies flute with Dr. Mehrdad Gholami. In the fall, she plans to study music at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Subee Kim: 2nd Place
Subee Kim is home schooled and will be entering the 12th grade in the fall 2019. She has been studying with Monica Song for 6 years. Subee is currently a member of the GDYO top Orchestra. She won 2nd place in the Juanita Miller Concerto Competition and 1st place in the Concert Artists International Virtuoso Competition. She has been a frequent winner of the Dallas Symphonic Festival and Texas Flute Festival. She has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and has performed in master classes with Mimi Stillman, Carol Wincenc, Conner Nelson, Claudia Riberio, Do Nasecimento, and Gabriel Gimenes. She is currently studying with Monica Song and Won Lee.
