native Houstonian, flutist Julee Kim Walker is Professor of Flute at East Texas A&M
University near Dallas, TX, where she has taught since 2012. She is an active performer,
passionate music educator & pedagogue, and a dedicated mentor & arts administrator.
She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin, her
Master’s degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and the Doctorate of
Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas. She is Artistic Director of the Texas
Summer Flute Symposium.
An esteemed teacher, Dr. Walker was twice the recipient of the Paul W. Barrus
Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching at ETAMU, and is sought-after as a clinician and
adjudicator, and for masterclasses and lectures all over the world, including University of
North Texas, CU Boulder, Raffaele Trevisani Masterclass in Italy, Shanghai Normal
University in China, and Sao Paulo State University in Brazil. She has also performed in
Austria, Italy, France, Croatia, Brazil, Argentina and China.
Dr. Walker performs regularly with FlutAria trio and with several ensembles in the DFW
Metroplex such as the Fort Worth Symphony, Plano Symphony, Irving Symphony and The
Dallas Winds. She is a William S. Haynes Artist.
